Who is our enemy?

I take this Saturday morning to share a little gem from Sister Marie Paul Curley’s book Soul of Christ.

From the malignant enemy: There are two popular mindsets of the devil today which are not helpful to our spiritual life:

1.) He does not exist. To say this is to fall into the biggest trickery we have been sold. To believe this is to no longer be vigilant in our spiritual life.

2.) A superstitious regard to the power of Satan. We must remember that Satan has been defeated by the passion of Christ on his Cross. Christ has conquered and death no longer has its sting.

defend me: God defends us by his love! The devil cannot look upon the cross and win for it is the sign of God’s victory. When you look to the cross, do not see defeat. Rather, behold triumph.
