Sister Marie Paul Curley, a Daughter of Saint Paul, wrote this gem of a book Soul of Christ. Taking this Saturday morning to share the little pearls I have learned from this book.
Blood of Christ: Blood is an important symbol in the scriptures. Sharing in blood was a sharing in a deep family bond. To loose blood was to die. We see in the Hebrew Scriptures how the blood of animal sacrifices were used in the covenant act between God and his people. In a definitive way, the pure blood of Christ pardons our sins and makes us family in the Divine Life of God.
inebriate me: We usually associate this word with someone who is contaminated with alcohol. To ask the blood of Christ to inebriate us is to fill us, overtake us, consume us with his presence … moreover, we asking Christ to fill us with joy, for only Christ can give us the joy that the world cannot give.
