Did I win the POWERBALL?

The only important numbers on countless Americans last night were 8, 27, 34, 4, 19 & the Powerball of 10. Millions had their whole attention focused on their gadgets and television screens in hopes that their $2 or more orange ticket would be the #gamechanger for their life.

It looks like the results are in and some three states have the winning tickets. A few people will have their lives utterly altered as they decide what to do with money that I can’t even begin to account. The latest news capped the winnings at $1.6 Billion Dollars!

Let me put my Catholic hat on for a moment, I wonder why Catholics do not drop as much money in their weekly collection basket as fast as consumers do at the local gas station for the sensation of having life utterly change for them? Let’s be straight forward, isn’t Jesus life’s #gamechanger, worth more than what an orange ticket can give us?

Growing up, a common expression was used, “There are some things money cannot buy.”

But we seem to laugh our way through it, knowing that each of our Guardian Angels huddled over us. It was a reminder that God was not done with us yet! These are the memories money could never satisfy. These are the memories in which our Catholic Faith shines through in its richness.
