Passing through doors?

On Sunday, December 13 we will be celebrating the opening of Holy Doors. Found on the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Facebook Page is a photo of the sealing of the Holy Door until it’s opening a few weeks out.

We shouldn’t think of holy doors as a superstitious event, in which we cross its threshold and all our sins are miraculously absolved. Rather, these designated doors at J&11th Street and assigned doors throughout this vast diocese is a metaphor for Christ. Christ is the door to eternal life. Walking through doors is a visible sign of how pilgrims must walk through Christ to find eternal life. These are external expressions of our internal faith.
