My mother’s hometown

It was a trip that will always be etched in my heart as my friends took me to the very place where my mom grew up, where she went to Mass each week. Her parish church is Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag. Powerfully known for her protection and intercession, it was a place filled with a mother’s presence.

It is a repetitious prayer that meditates on the life of our Lord through the eyes and heart of Mary. Repetition is a good thing because that’s who we are as human beings. Each day we repeat a ritual that makes our days move along: waking up, brushing our teeth, eating, sleeping. So to make repetition in the way we pray is very human! It moves us to forget and to let go. It moves us to see things from a mother’s perspective …. and in this case to see salvation brought to us through the heart of a mother.
