I have to admit …

11221894_480489092119511_6601496889582259091_nI have to admit that I do not know much about the popular saint known as Padre Pio of Pietrenlcina. My closest memory of encountering him was in the Philippines with my friends as we island hope through the Visayas!

Padre Pio was a holy priests known for his ability to bi-locate and to know the soul through and through in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He was a man of joy and love for the gospel of Christ.

Let’s pay attention today because at 1pm Pacific Standard Time, the Holy Father will do something amazing on U.S. soil. On the feast of this great Franciscan Saint, Padre Pio, the Holy Father named after the man from Assisi, will raise another Franciscan Priest to the altar of God: Junipero Serra … perhaps the first canonization on U.S. soil in my immediate recollection of American Catholic HIstory.
