“Heaven is Pink”

“Heaven is Pink” is the title of my future book! I remember sitting at the coffee shop across from Saint Anne of the Sunset not too long ago with my dear Franciscan Sister Mary Peter. Coffee with a Religious Sister is always a riot filled with joy, memories, and faith.

I looked across the street to the enormous pink church named after Jesus’ grandma and I told Sister that one day I will write a memoir of my time in San Francisco and  coin it after the Church found on Funston & Judah. She got a good laugh out of my silliness for Catholic joy! But I do that for several reasons, one of which is that this was the parish that was home to me when I first moved to San Francisco during my college years!

Class of 2015 preparing for the Graduation Mass & Ceremony

Earlier today, after crossing two bridges, I made my way to this same place which over the decade has met me with countless events, a plethora of liturgies, and a number of souls brought to Christ through the sacraments offered here. I came for a rehearsal for perhaps my last Graduation in this series of years.

Life is changing and a new chapter which will reveal itself in the weeks to come. I thought this picture captures the sentiments of today.

And for memory sake, here’s a short video of when I stood next to a priest who I hold with great admiration at his farewell Mass as pastor of this hallmark parish in San Francisco.
