We were in Madrid for the World Youth Day, and in walked the great Francis Cardinal George. He took time to chat about vocations with us at the lobby of the hotel. It was one of my fondest memories of such a great clergyman.

Here’s is the announcement of his death given by the current Archbishop of Chicago, the Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich.

And here is a look into his final public Mass at the Cathedral where he taught from his cathedra for many years.

Even Pope Francis sends his Apostolic Blessing to those who will mourn the death of the Prince of Chicago’s Faithful. The Catholic media and world will be buzzing about the Rite of Christian Burial and other events surrounding his farewell from this life and welcome into the next.
