What sets you on fire?

Adult-Baptism_046This picture shows the reality of what happens to us at Baptism. We are changed, we are made new. But here’s the punch: it had nothing to do with us. God created us out of sheer love and took the initiative to make covenant relationship with us.

Look at our lives today. What sets us on fire for a zeal for life? At times it may be what we can grasp in our hands whether that is success, achievement, and popularity. Once those things fade or become irrelevant, we seek to acquire more … kind of like fuel in a gas tank that has gone empty.

Acts 2:1-4. When the day of Pentecost came. Pastel & pen. 26 May 2012.

For the first disciples of the early Church, they were set on fire by the Holy Spirit. They were set on fire because they met Jesus risen from the dead. Today, is the grand finale of Easter. Allow God to recharge us, make us new, and realize that life’s greatest achievement is found in our covenant relationship with him.

“Allow God to recharge us, make us new, and realize that life’s greatest achievement is found in our covenant relationship with him.” How well and purely put!! To be a child of God is truly our very first vocation!
