As we enter into Holy Week, the Holy Father reminds us to be people of joy. To follow Jesus Christ is so beautiful, it is a life of awe inspiring joy! Many times we mix up happiness for joy. Happiness is an emotion that comes from external situations… you receive a gift, you accomplish something in life, you see someone you have not seen in a long time. Yet, joy, is something that is manifested from within. It is an interior disposition. Regardless what misfortunes come a person’s way, nothing can shake or steal the joy that they have in Christ!
Jesus enters Jerusalem, not to be enthroned on a royal throne for esteem and glory, but he goes to be crucified for us! He goes to reveal his glory and unfathomable love at the throne of his cross. We, young of heart, come near the cross as Mary bravely did those many years ago, and profess from the depth of our being that Jesus Christ is King and Lord. We hail him today! Even though we know the story, we posses the joy of who Christ is and what he has done for us.
Wishing you all a blessed Palm Sunday as we plunge into the great mystery of Holy Week!
