Family is …

photo-3

Hallmark has placed out a new season of cards with Valentine around the corner and everything from Christmas simply seem as a remnant of the December 25th feast as the majority of retail items are 50% off.

The contradiction is that in the eyes of the Church, it is still Christmas Day. The picture above is the classic image of Christmas: the Holy Family. It would be a mistake to appreciate the Holy Family as a sentimental perfect family that is found in the typical Hallmark card.

After all, Jesus, the Savior of the World, was an unexpected pregnancy, his mother underwent questionable paternity, his family were refugees due to political massacre and exiled as immigrants into a foreign land.

By far, Jesus was not born into a perfect family! One thing is for sure, they were holy and their lives were oriented towards God. Dare we do the same.

Merry Christmas!
