Totally Beautiful

Let us celebrate with joy the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, for from her arose the sun of justice, Christ our God.

Today, the Church quietly celebrated the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. She is the tota pulchra, the all beautiful one because she is the one whom the Father prepared to conceive the Word. In Lourdes, she told Bernadette, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Such a statement does not point to her own accomplishments. Rather, it magnifies what God has done in her.

Just as in Mary, the Father knows our beginning and our end. Just as in Mary, the Father has a divine plan for us to bring forth his Son into our broken world.
