That little portion in San Francisco

Jeff & I were once classmates at Mount Angel Seminary. He moved on a few years ago and pursued a degree in Law and this past weekend we were reunited …. and he brought his fiance to this beautiful city by the Bay! It was a great day together in reliving the many good memories on that hilltop in the Northwest.

Out of the many places we visited, I took him to this little hidden gem in the midst of the North Beach District found bee line of the iconic Transamerica Pyramid.

There you will find La Porzincola Nuova, the little portion, in the city named after Saint Francis. Considered the fifth holiest place in the world and the extension of Assisi, it is the replica of Francis’ little house. It is a must see place where all are welcomed to encounter the God who created them and loves them. Here’s a little video of its history:

The day ended with Cupid’s Span. All the guests who come and visit end their time with me at this monument overshadowed by the Bay Bridge. It’s a way of saying that we all leave a little piece of our heart in San Francisco.
