Three women, the perfect plan

Eve’s rejection became Mary’s yes! Our Mother’s life was oriented towards God, she pondered in her heart the very will of the Father (cf. Luke 2.19).  Simply stated, God had a perfect plan and perfect timing when He looked to our Mother and prepared her for the greatest task known to any woman: bearing God himself!

What does this mean, or what significance could it have, during these cold winter days when so many people grieve the lost of those they love, struggle through difficult reationships, and say goodbye to those who are dying?

I may not have the full answer, but I do know because of the Immaculate Conception, God has not forgotten us and God remains faithful! God has gone “out of the way” as one teenager recently told me, to win us back and God does it through a simple young girl from the ancient world almost twenty-one centuries ago.

Her yes is our yes today. Her womb became a holy temple for the Word. The Church today, becomes the bride of Christ who receives the Word and allows the Word to become Incarnate through her mission and the celebration of sacraments.

Our lives become a similar temple where the Word may dwell and in that dwelling we find all the answers to life’s difficult questions.
