Saints in the making

It was about this time last year, when my (then student) Nico told me about the filipino teenager who was martyred in Guam for his faith. Who would have thought that Pedro would be elevated to the altar a year later.

His faith has inspired countless people especially the youth and will continue to inspire many as his name is invoked and his life is shared on the universal stage with six new saints.

But to only consider saints as people in the past would miss the mark on what it means to be a communion of saints. We are called to be saints. As a matter of fact, we are saints in the making. We are constantly working out our holiness and seeking a meaningful relationship with God.

Yesterday, I honored one of my saints in the making, by joining her family in walking for her and many others as she has survived breast cancer. She is an inspiration, if not one of the biggest inspirations, I have in my life.

Today, be aware of those who impact your life and who bring you closer to God. They are the saints whom we should surround ourselves with and whom God has placed in our lives and called them friends.
