This Holy Night

Yes. This is the night when we watch Christ rise from the dead! New fire is blessed, the Easter Candle – the symbol of the Risen Christ – processes into the darkness of the worship space – as if it were at the beginning when God called forth the light into the darkness. This is the night in which we recall our ENTIRE salvation history from the beginning of time to the Resurrection of Christ! It’s a spectacular night.

Because of this holy night, many will come to the font of baptism to confess their faith and be baptized into the body of Christ. Many will be confirmed and receive First Holy Communion. Of these many people across the globe, there are three whom I am deeply proud of ….

Nico, Donmiguel, and Trixie have walked with me this year in a journey of faith. Tonight they will arrive at the peak of their journey as God, in the person of the bishop, will seal all three of them with sacred chrism and confirm them in Christ. Along with this great sacrament, Donmiguel and Trixie will approach the Altar for the first time to receive Jesus in the Eucharist!

They have persevered, they have sought God with their whole heart, but above all, they allowed themselves to be still and let God find them. I AM DEEPLY PROUD OF THEM! It is Christ’s work, it is Christ who has called them to himself. ALLELUIA!
