More of You & less of me

Words that ring true in the Christian life: “More of You, less of me.” It’s a phrase coined by my good friend, Cecilia after John the Baptist.

Allen (to my left above) spent the day with the seminarian community and we traveled back in time as Raj, Jeremy, and I all spoke of our faith journey outside of Starbucks at Stanford Mall, enjoying our drinks and the Sprinkles cupcakes that seem to be easily devoured… but that’s besides the point.

We spoke of where we have been and where we are now and it was a reminder that it is God’s work that is accomplished in our lives. God is the one fashioning us after Himself. If we were to write our own life stories they would not have turned out the way they have up to this point.

Yesterday, was the Feast of Andrew Kim. He and hundreds of his companions picked up their cross and followed Christ – all the way to martyrdom. This imitation on our shoulders is the self-emptying of our selves so that Christ may fill us with himself. More of you, less of me.
