That line of people

A picture was taken on the 100th Anniversary of the Novena to Good Saint Anne of the Sunset in San Francisco.

Something about processions. I was one of the first people to receive Holy Communion at Mass today. As I sat in my chair my head was bowed and I simply noticed people’s array of different shoes. More interestingly, I noticed anew this sense of procession toward Christ in the Eucharist. It rang true again as I heard it in Acts of the Apostles today, “In him we live and move and have our being.”

Today, we hear that we are the offspring of God. Think about that for a moment! No matter what we may go through in life with all its difficulties and joys, we are claimed for Christ to share in the divine life!

This same Jesus promises us the Spirit of Truth who will be our Advocate and Guide. This is the intimate union that each person bearing the name Christian is called to. Dare we love any less as sons and daughters of God the Father, brothers and sisters of God the Son, and temples of God the Holy Spirit.

And it is Mary who loved the LORD so perfectly. It is Mary who can teach us to faithfully process to Christ her Son.
