A thrust into the desert

Japan’s massive tsunami caught the world’s attention within these past days. Many lost their lives and many are coming to their aide. Throughout our country, people remain jobless and some remain without hope and live in despair. This is the context in which we are thrusted into the first Sunday of Lent.

We all embrace the desert of our lives in where we commune with God. During these forty days of penance and renewal, God goes with us into the desert and teaches us to purify our desires and to control our passions. He gives us the opportunity to call out to him and to fully rely on him. These are exciting days as he teaches us to pick up our cross and follow him….
