What makes us human?

Father Paul Warren hit the mark with his homily on Sunday. He spoke of Watson, the I.B.M. Robot, who made its appearance on Jeopardy. We are coming to an age where robots compete on television, preside over civil weddings, and answer the most trivial and curious questions of life. Robots are becoming the trend. What makes us so different from them?

Father Paul said that LOVE is the biggest difference. As intelligent as  a robot can be, it will never know and experience Love. It will never be able to consume the body of Christ and know the intimacy that surrounds such a truth. So when we celebrate the Eucharist in its entirety, regardless beautiful or ugly, God gives himself out of love…. love without remainder. When we experience the Eucharist in its entirety, love is what is at stake.
